Applicant Pool Information

Our applicant pool is not first-come, first-served. Instead, it is based on a few different criteria:

  • Schedule availability
    • Due to the importance of staffing ratios, we have a certain number of base (half-day) and full-day slots.
      • Situations can arise, such as a child moving from toddler to primary, a family moving, etc, that could cause a spot to open during the school year.
  • Re-enrollment
    • Our re-enrollment forms go out in early February to give us an idea of how many children will be returning for the next school year. This plays a large role in determining how many spots we will have available for new students in the upcoming school year.
  • Sibling preference
    • We give preference to the siblings of already enrolled children, which can also limit the number of open slots.
  • Commitment
    • Enrollment in our toddler or primary requires a commitment to finishing the full primary cycle. This means staying through to the end of your child’s elder (kindergarten) year.

Elementary Admission Process

If your elementary child has no previous Montessori experience, it needs to be noted that bringing an elementary-age child into a Montessori program must be done with great care and discussion.1  When elementary placements are made, it is with the understanding that there will be a trial period to ensure a successful fit for the child and the classroom.

  1. Schedule a tour
    • Tours can be scheduled by calling or emailing the main office, or by filling out our Contact Us form.
      • Tours are offered on Tuesday and Thursday mornings between 9 am and 11 am.
      • Tours are about 30 – 40 minutes long.

    • After your tour, we will send you an email with a link to our online application. Fill this out and pay the $35 application fee to hold a spot for your child.
  3. Parent observation2
    • We will also reach out to you to schedule a time for you to come in and do an observation in either the lower or upper elementary casa, depending on the age your child will be when they start coming to school.
      • While the day of the observation is fairly flexible, the best times for observations are between 9 am and 11 am.
      • Observations are typically around 1 hour in length.
  4. Student visit
    • If both parents and the Head of School decide that our school may be a good fit for your child, a 2-day classroom visit is also scheduled for the child.
      • These are typically half-days for the visiting child.
  5. Decision meeting
    • The Lead Guide and the Head of School have a meeting after your child’s visit to discuss the suitability of the Montessori environment and our school for your child.
  6. Notification of placement

  1. The transition to Montessori is made more successful if independence, self-motivation, and respect are evident in both the child and the parenting practices.  ↩︎
  2. If your child is transferring from another Montessori program, the following process may be adjusted. ↩︎
