Art is another enrichment program offered to students who are Elder age and older at Stepping Stones Montessori. We have been lucky enough to have Ms. Wendy Sylvester-Rowan leading our art program for almost 15 years now! Wendy also works for the city of East Lansing in Arts Programming and Placemaking and has connected Stepping Stones to the East Lansing community through the arts in so many wonderful ways.
Children enjoy art class once a week with Ms. Wendy and explore a plethora of mediums from paints to printmaking and collage to clay, all while learning about concepts of art in our new studio space. Once a year we hold an art expo that lines our hallways with color, an event students anticipate all year as they create beautiful works from the lessons they receive.
“Imagination does not become great until human beings, given the courage and the strength, use it to create.”
Maria Montessori

Students have also had works featured around downtown East Lansing. Here’s a project from the 2021-2022 school year:
A collaborative fence art project was installed today around the @msufcu construction site in #DowntownEastLansing with help from @GrangerConstruc 🌈
